From May 15 to 16, 2025, a premier digital transformation event for energy state-owned enterprises – the China Petroleum & Petrochemical Enterprises Information Technology Exchange Conference and High-Level Forum on New Quality Productivity Development in the Oil & Gas Industry – was successfully held in Beijing. Co-hosted by the China Petroleum Society, Sinopec, CNPC, CNOOC, PipeChina, and China Energy, the conference closely followed the theme of "Digital Intelligence Empowering the Development of New Quality Productivity in Petroleum and Petrochemical Industries." It fully implemented the national digital economy development strategy and AI industry deployment requirements, focusing on industry technological innovation and green, low-carbon transformation pathways driven by digital-intelligent technologies.
The event featured in-depth discussions on cutting-edge technology trends and scenario-based applications in areas such as industrial big data and digital twins. It showcased the latest digital transformation achievements, including intelligent oilfield construction and practical applications of large AI models. Comprehensive exchanges were held around critical industry upgrading topics, such as core algorithm self-sufficiency and the domestic substitution of key technologies, all aimed at building a high-quality dialogue platform for cultivating new quality productivity in the oil and gas sector.
The conference highlighted outstanding practices in digital-intelligent transformation from CNPC, Sinopec, CNOOC, PipeChina, and China Energy that are empowering the development of new quality productivity. Through over 20 cutting-edge presentations, academicians and experts introduced the latest theoretical research and application results in fields such as bionic intelligence, large-scale models, industrial software development, and AI safety, demonstrating the broad prospects of using digital-intelligent technologies to cultivate and develop new quality productivity in the oil and gas industry.
At the event, SimTech engaged with attendees and exhibitors, showcasing the company's innovative achievements in process simulation. A key highlight was the independently developed SimTech Simulator (Honghu Process Simulation System), China's first commercially available process simulation software built on a cloud computing model. This software can simulate virtually all plant units and processes, from pipelines and valves to complex reaction and separation processes, and is widely used in oil and gas processing, refining, and the chemical industry. Its functionality and performance are now on par with internationally recognized simulation software, and it has undergone validation and industrial application across hundreds of process units in both R&D, design, and production enterprises.
In 2025, SimTech launched its SimTech Oil&Gas-twin solution, a digital twin system for oil and gas facilities. Driven by mechanistic models and integrated with real-time data, this solution covers scenarios including offshore platforms, FPSOs, onshore terminals, joint station sites, natural gas processing plants, and LNG terminals. It is projected to help facilities save millions of yuan annually in operating costs, providing enterprises with a quantifiable pathway for cost reduction and efficiency improvement through digital operations.
